Worldly Living vs. a God Led Life
    Series: James
Today we’re tackling the entire 4th chapter of James.  In this chapter James contrasts living by the world’s standard and leading vs. living by God’s standards and calling.  James approaches this from several different angles as he forcefully addresses several problems in the 1st century church and still remain a problem in many of today’s churches.

    Peek-a-boo Faith
    Series: James

Today’s sermon we will be looking at the most controversial text in James. Many see this text as the basis for the supposed disagreement between Paul and James regarding the role of ‘works’ in our faith and salvation.  It’s what James says in this text that caused Martin Luther to lobby for James to be removed from the Bible.  We will look at these supposed discrepancies and explain the richness of both Paul and James’ perspectives.

    Favoritism Condemned
    Series: James

In today’s sermon we’re going to look at James addressing the topic of judgment or showing partiality to individuals.  We tend to do it all the time and James comes down hard on this practice - calling it sin and equating it on the level of murder and adultery.  Why is he so hard on what many would consider a “lesser” sin?  Because showing partiality is a subtle form of judgment and that’s God place not yours and it devalues the intrinsic value that God has placed in each and every one of us.  How do we change from this type of behavior.  Read through to the action points at the end of the sermon.

    Going Beyond the Rim
    Series: James
"Today’s topic is “Going Beyond the Rim”. This is in reference to going deeper into the Grand Canyon then merely standing on the rim (note this was inspired by a talk from Jon Albert, director of Canyon Ministries).  This video provides a great launching pad into our text from James in which he begins to stress the importance of us not merely learning God’s Word but also putting it into action.

    James

Today we begin an extension from the recent Open Door series by looking at the book of James.  James is one of the most practical letters in the New Testament, dealing with a variety of issues that Christians in the first century struggled with as well as most Christians today.  In the opening section of James, the author addresses head on how to maintain and deepen our faith in the midst of the struggles in this world.
