Waiting

How many of you like to wait?  It might be for a doctor, or another driver, or for a paycheck or for a promotion etc.  Not many of us like to wait.  However, Scripture that God loves and blesses those who are willing to wait on Him.  This morning we’re going to discover what that looks like to wait on God.

    Isaiah 61 Part 3
Today’s sermon was inspired by a recent experience I had in which I saw God move in a dramatic way orchestrating events for the display of His glory.  Which is exactly what I’ve been preaching about, out of Isaiah 61, recently.  God’s orchestration of events in history is seen frequently throughout the Bible and should be able to be recognized in our lives today as well.  We just need to train our senses to be in tune to seeing them.

    Isaiah 61
This past week Vikings fans have been reveling in an exciting last second come back victory of the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional Playoff game. It’s been nicknamed the “Minneapolis Miracle” by the local radio broadcasters. And there’s been speculation that this one play may have lifted the supposed “curse” that seems to keep the Vikings from going all the way through and winning the Super Bowl. This morning we’re going to look at a far more meaningful curse and God’s plan to lift the effects of that from our lives.

Bitter Room – Root of Assumption
My last sermon I suggested a New Year’s resolution that would be worth keeping - getting rid of unforgiveness from our lives. Unforgiveness tends to imprison us while we think we taking out revenge on the other person. One of the Scriptures I used during that sermon was Hebrews 12:14-17 which cautions us against allowing a bitter root from growing up in our lives. Unforgiveness may be evidence of the existence of a bitter root in our lives, but there are also other bitter roots that are just as dangerous. This morning we’re going to explore the origin of this bitter root reference in the Old Testament and find out how that might apply to our lives today.

    Forgiveness
As we prepare to close out 2017 and launch into a new year, I want to give you a new years resolution that could completely change your life in 2018.  This won’t be easy, but it’s a strategy, provided by Jesus, which helps deal with one of the most difficult issues in many people’s lives - forgiveness.
