Susanna Wesley
This morning we’re looking at the life of Susanna Wesley. She’s likely most famous for being the mother of the two men who began the Methodist church: John and Charles Wesley. However, their mother was a remarkable woman in her own right and her commitment to raising her children in the Lord, through plenty of adversity, is inspirational.

Today we’re going to put our focus on an individual who many consider the greatest Christian theologian and writer of the 20th century.  He’s a man who, early on, was an avowed atheist but later became a man totally committed to following Jesus Christ.  His name is C.S. Lewis and most of you have likely read one or more of his books.

Today we’re looking at the life of a remarkable woman who initially became well known because of the murder of her husband at the hands of the Auca Indians.  However, that wasn’t her only tragedy.  Her life is a great testament to being completely committed to Jesus Christ and what that looks like in response to tragedies.

Today we’re looking at the example of a man who began life as a thief, a liar and a partier. But in his twenties, in the midst of a home Bible study, God got a hold of his heart and from that point on, he was totally sold out for God. And for the rest of his life, God funneled millions of dollars through this former thief's hands to be used for God’s glory.

Today we’re going to be looking at the life of Dwight L. Moody and how God used an uneducated man to impact thousands of people’s lives.  It’s an inspiration to us on how God can use any one of us if we’re “all in” with Jesus.

Today I begin a new summer sermon series entitled, Lives Worth Imitating. We will be examining the lives of various individuals from the Bible and outside of it and be reminded of important principles in living a life for God. Today we begin by looking at a man who had to wait 40 years to claim God’s promise to him.

    Series: Special Days
Today, as we honor our fathers, I’m going to be preaching about the importance of “imitating” others or as psychologists call it, “mirroring” and how all of us are called to do this throughout our lives.

    Lord’s Prayer Application
After completing the sermon series on the Lord’s Prayer last week I want to use this sermon to illustrate how to apply it to our lives through the example of King Jehoshaphat who was faced with an immediate crisis in his life and kingship. His reaction is a great example of the Lord’s Prayer on several levels.
